You will hear a lot of talk about HIPAA violations. This is the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 1996, which basically
covers all patient confidentiality /patient identifiable information

Personally, I think this is a humanitarian concept. If I can relieve
someones pain, then I will do it, to the best of my abilities. I have
never had a complaint from a local A&E stating that I have made
someone too comfortable, but I have heard some complaints about
paramedics not giving analgesia when it is clearly indicated. i think so

To follow on from point 1, and to stop people just learning parrot
fashion, why not have a function where you can freeze the rhythm you are
looking at and actually have a tutorial that teaches you about the
rhythm and WHY it looks like it does on the screen. That way learners
can actually develop their methods of analyzing rhythms based on
knowledge about the physiology of the heart in direct correlation to the

But there are also some things about me that I am proud of. Not in an
achievement sort of way, but just some of my traits that I think bring
out the good parts of me. Is it fate or destiny that caused my mother to
suffer for years under the pressure of clinical depression, just to

I for one cannot see much more that would be of benefit or that would be
practicable to try and perform in an out of hospital setting with our
current level of technology (who knows ones we get into Star Trek land

She is still struggling, still not out of the woods, but is alive.

i am not in the medical profession i am a nursery nurse and so see things from the other side i think you have to remember you did your best and the mum will be thankful that you cared and treated her son with care and compassion . not all Ambulance staff are like you .

I have struggled with this problem for soooo long!!!! I've been getting help for about 3 yrs now (thank God!). I have a great psychiatrist and support of friends & family. I've always thought that there should be some way to educate and inform ER dr's, paramedic's, even lifeguard's (I live in San Diego, CA). This is something I'm ashamed of. It's so demoralizing and difficult to explain why I've done it. I've done ALOT more than just faking seizures and ultimately it lead to depression which caused a suicide attempt where i ended up with an emergency trache, bilateral chest tubes and on a ventilator for a while. Where it got tricky for my caregivers is that I don't have Munchausens (spelled right?)- I just want attention so bad that I will take exreme risks with my health to get it and it's usually centered around paramedics. For quite a awhile I faked seizures and this is horrible to say but they never could tell because I didn't make mine be dramatic but rather subtle-where I just stared off straight keeping my eyes open.I have a friend who is a paramedic and I told him I'm sure there are other people who do similar "faking" but he said there isn't alot they can do about it. I thought at least they could be informed. I continuing to get help to stop this bx because I don't want to hurt myself or waste anyones time anymore. It's not fair to the people that really need help. hope this was helpful.
